)

In this operation; parameters such as cutting speed, the number of the cutting edges and cutting depth that affect surface roughness were studied empirically by exposing AISI 1050 steel to surface milling operation in CNC milling counter. Creating different combinations for the parameters, four different tests were made. In the tests, cutting sets were used which are coated with PVD method that is used in treatment of steel and global graffiti cast irons. Surface roughness values that were obtained through the use of the parameters which were determined with cutting sets, were measured and the relations between such measured surface values and the parameters were modelled mathematically by making use of curve fitting algorithms. Mathematical models were evaluated according to coefficients of determination (R2), the most ideal ones were suggested for theoretical studies. As a result of study; changes in surface roughness were mentioned based on different parameter values and the mathematical models recommended for each test were specified.
